Video Vixen, Groupie, or Role Model?…

Everytime I turn on the televison and the very few times I listen to the radio, I see pictures and hear the latest news on Beyonce’, Kim Kardashian, Rihanna, Lindsay Lohan, Lady Gaga and Nicki Minaj. Yes, these are the popular entertainers of today’s America and the masses want to keep up with every breath they take and move they make. What I find disturbing is the fact that we are now giving publicity to these so-called “video vixens,” but what I consider publicity junkies. We still have a war going on in the middle east, there are talks of mosque’s being built all over the place, innocent people are dying every day, and the economy is still not where it needs to be. How is it that we have time and even the care to write and broadcast about these nobody’s who only feed off of publicity and now actually think that it is ok to be a glorified hoe? Really fellow journalists, what are you doing??
There was Marilyn Monroe, Anna Nicole Smith, Karrine “Superhead Steffans, and now new publicity junkies are being born, it seems like, everyday. The thing that gets me is that they can only live as long as us, the viewers and listeners, allow them too. These are females seeking the attention that they obviously did not receive as a child or if they did it was the wrong kind. I talked about this in my blog entry ~Spread your Wings and Fly~. At the end of the day, we could bash these females and criticize them but they truly need our help and our prayers. But feeding into their disgrace and patenting ourselves after them is definitley not the thing to do.
It is very frustrating that females like Kat Stacks, Superhead and all of these other legalized prostitutes are continuously making it harder for us African-American women to break through the chains of worthlessness that have been put on us, making us feel as though we are nothing without our bodies. There are too many little girls that see all of this foolishness and grow up believing that their worth lies in the size of their breast and butt.
And black men, you are not exempt! In fact you are a major part of the problem!! The more these so called “men,” in these music videos, portray beauty to be in the nudity of the women parading around them like they are gods, the more these women think that this is what men want and what it is going to take for them to get a “successful” man. It is all a facade!
How many instances have you seen these men marry these “video vixens” and if they did, how long did it last?… Probably until they got tired of having sex with her! They are all lies, because the truth is, these men will sleep with these women, indeed, but they will not and I repeat will not put a ring on them! Take Kim Kardashian for example. All of these girls, both black and white, are walking around here trying to be the next Kim Kardashian so lets take a quick look at Ms. Kardashian: She is 29 and single, she has expressed serveral times that she’s ready to get married and have children but let’s look at her lifestyle: She became famous for a sex tape with Ray J and had already been married by the age of 19 prior to the bad publicity. She is not famous for her brilliance or achievements, she’s famous for her looks and true enough she’s a beautiful girl! The point I am trying to convey is that it takes MORE than that, ladies… when will you get it???
We are all responsible and have to take accountability for where we are as a culture. MEN, stop using all these darn excuses for EVERYTHING and start being a MAN! Lead by example. Black men, start teaching each other how to be black men, instead of the next Lil Wayne. It starts with you! Tell your black queens that they are queens and most importantly start treating them like they are! Black women, lets own up to our name! We come from royalty, so lets get back to that! Start acting like you are a black queen and you will be treated like one! Stop blaming men for all of your problems and start taking responsibility for your actions. Start raising your daughters to work hard for what they want and not taking the easy way out because the easy way never lasts. Stop being lazy, thinking that success and wealth can come from cheating yourself by giving away your body like it is worthless, whether that be on Facebook, Twitter, or in Maxim magazine! And the lie you have told yourselves that, “Im just using what I got to get what I want”, is nothing but legalized prostitution, not only physically but mentally and you are no better than the women that stand on the street corner soliciting their bodies for drugs and money! And if you THINK that because you get treated to a 5-Star restaurant and then hotel, inn and suite, it seperates you from the rest, you are sadly mistaken as well! Do your homework ladies! Males will spend ANY amount of money on you and take you to any place you can dream up or imagine… to get that cookie!
We are led by example so it is time for us to start being better examples, because the upcoming generation is always watching.
You can not have better for yourself until you want better for yourself! It is time-out for this nonsense and it is time for us to keep it real with each other, if we really love each other. Stand up and Stand out!

Check out this young man’s insight on one of the situations! You may find it very commical and indeed it is but there are a lot of truths that come out of this as well! Be Blessed!
