I spent the first half of my life getting to know myself, wondering how I could please God, trying not to mess up, being afraid when I did, not knowing or understanding what life was all about… I now know that God’s intention was never for us to worry and stress about anything. There was no discussion or consultation about our creation, God just did it. He placed us here on earth and provided us with everything we needed for his own delight and pleasure.
“You are worthy, O Lord our God, to receive glory and honor and power. For you created all things, and they exist because you created what you pleased.”
With this understanding I realize that God never intended for us to be stressed or weighed down with life, He just wanted us to live it. Life is a gift.
Gift – a thing given willingly to someone without payment; a present.
We didn’t ask for it, have to earn it, or pay for it, it was just given to us.
“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.”
Life is like someone buying you a new car and you spending everyday taking the car apart, examining it’s materials, trying to figure out how you can remodel it, and switch out it’s mechanism’s instead of just driving it and enjoying it. We spend so much time trying to figure out how life works instead of just living it. We often miss out on life’s amenities, the simple joys, the beauty and lessons of the highs and lows. Some people spend their entire lives trying to figure out how to turn their Mazda into a Lamborghini instead of appreciating and understanding the reason why God gave them what He did and how He intended for them to use it. And some go their whole life thinking they ride a bike, never realizing that they were driving a Range Rover the entire time. Don’t be that person.
Yesterday God revealed to me that there is no beauty, joy and excitement in knowing everything about Him before the journey is over and then lifelessly living out the rest of our lives. Take a deep breath and just relax.
Don’t worry. Everything is exactly the way it is supposed to be. You are exactly where you’re supposed to be. Just live.
The passion of life comes from walking and discovering; not knowing what will happen next, and not being able to see what lies around the next bend or over the other side of the mountain. I realized that God doesn’t expect us to know everything about Him during life. He delights in our hearts longing to know Him and then seeking after Him. Once our hearts are open we are able to hear God’s voice, see Him and feel Him in everything around us: In people we encounter and love, the places we go and in the things we do; we are able to feel, hear and see God in everything. In living. And that is when living life is beautiful. This is when life has meaning and purpose. This is when we are closest to God.
“Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this [is] the whole [duty] of man.”
When we have obtained all that we needed and all that He needed to pass through us, to plant into the earth, to share with others, then our job is done. This is why it is imperative to be open, to be vibrant and alive but most importantly obedient. We are vessels and in order for our lives to be effective, full and purposeful we have to live life, and that more abundantly.
If you are wondering how you can hear God’s voice or why you aren’t hearing His voice examine what and who you are surrounded by, where you’re going and what you’re doing. Ensure that NOthing is drowning out God’s voice and your ability to hear Him. In order to be led by God you must be able to hear Him over everything and anyone else.
