As a Christian I have realized that the biggest misconception is the false belief that once you have accepted Christ as your Lord and savior you are supposed to live this impeccable, blemish-free life, where there is no room for error or you will be condemned to spending an eternity in hell. In actuality, once you have made the best decision you can ever make in your life, which is to live for Christ, your life will just begin.
You will still experience the hardships, and ups and downs that others face but the difference between those who have been set free and those who are enslaved is that you have the power to control your situation instead of allowing your situation to control you. Life will continue to throw it’s best at you, in fact, as the word of God states, you become a target, so life will be challenging, but the upside is that you will be victorious no matter what! The ultimate price was paid by Jesus Christ when He gave His life for the world’s sins, so no matter what, you have already won the battle and fight of life, all by just believing and receiving God’s grace.
Christians have a responsibility to show the world that we are different and that you don’t have to lie, cheat, scheme and do evil in order to overcome circumstances or be successful. All we have to do is trust God and believe in the power that he has invested in all of us.Our purpose is to be a light in a dark place, and how can you do that unless you are in the dark, but not of the dark?!.. Although you will continue to face natural circumstances of being a human being on this earth, we have supernatural power to overcome them. So don’t be afraid to give your life to Christ and live for Him, He’s not looking for the flawless person who says and does everything right, He’s looking for the most wretched of us so He can show his power to the world and set more souls free. He wants to save us, because He loves us so much, so much that he gave His life for us!
Come as you are and let your heavenly Father do all of the work. Trust me, there is no job too hard for God, after all, He created everything around us,… in seven days. Stop making excuses and don’t be afraid. The reality is that once you decide to live for God you will continue to face hardships and you will still mess up, but within His grace and as a member of His Holy family you now have the freedom and security that no matter what, He will still love you, protect you and believe in you, all because you believed in Him. Being a member of God’s family is free, all you have to do is believe!
Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed. John 20:29
